| *Augie Maurelli: "Augie" Leigh Maurelli joined the Georgetown athletic department staff in January of 2001 as strength and conditioning coach for the football program. After leaving the Hilltop briefly, he returned In the Winter of 2004, and was named director of strength and conditioning for all Hoya student-athletes. Maurelli has created a department that was originally one full-time coach to a highly integrated, five person staff that oversees the development of over 700 Varsity Athletes throughout 27 sports, with a personal emphasis on Men's Basketball, Football, Women's Soccer and Track & Field. Prior to his arrival at the Hilltop, Maurelli played four years of varsity football at Johns Hopkins University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1997, and subsequently served as an assistant strength coach for three years under former Olympian and Olympic Coach Bill Starr. A current University Record Holder, Augie trained as an Olympic lifter from 1994-2000 until Coach Starr and continues to promote the sport. In 2002, Maurelli received a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance from Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business. While working as an assistant S&C Coach, he credits the mentorship of Craig Fitzgerald (Head S&C Coach - Harvard University) and Dwight Galt (Head S&C University of Maryland) for much of his departmental approach, administration, and overall implementation. Maurelli is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA). Maurelli is also registered USWF lifter and Club Coach, and has been featured in Ironman magazine, contributed to several publications such as The Strongest Shall Survive and Defying Gravity. | ![]() |
| *Michael Hill: Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach - 4th Season* Hill is in his fourth year at Georgetown after coming to the Hilltop from San Francisco, Calif. where he ran a multi-million dollar weight training facility while volunteering for the Oakland Raiders. He received his BA from the University of Northern Iowa in Health Promotion with a minor in Coaching. While attending Northern Iowa, Hill worked with the Men's Basketball coaching staff as a student manager and practice player. He coached two high school basketball teams in Iowa and organized camps for the University of Northern Iowa, Iowa State University, Denver University, and several high schools throughout the state of Iowa. Mike is a current member of the National Strength & Conditioning Association and his certifications include Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, SAC Speed Agility and Conditioning Level 1 Coach, National Academy of Sports Medicine Personal Trainer, and CPR certified. | ![]() |
| *Michael Ungar: Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach - 1st season* Coach Ungar comes to the Hilltop from Auburn University where he completed his Graduate School Internship. Proir to recieveing his Masters from Springfield College in Exercise, Ungar was an intern at Boston College and an assitant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Harvard University. Coach Ungar also worked as a Performance Specialist for Mike Boyle in Winchester, Massachusets. Ungar recieved his undergraduate degree in History and Sociology from the University of Texas in August of 2003 where is was a three-time letter winner in Football and Special Teams Player of the year in 2002. His awards and accolodes for his football prowess include four Bowl appearances and three Big XII South Championships. Coach Ungar is a USAW Level I Coach who has his NSCA CSCS certification, and is working toward his CSCCa. | ![]() |
