Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University women's sailing program completed first day action at the 2007 Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Women's National Championship on Wednesday, May 23 on the Elizabeth River in Norfolk, Va. After six races in each division, the Hoyas sit in 12th place with 113 points. St. Mary's (60 points) holds a slight one point lead over College of Charleston. Junior Blaire Herron (Coronado, Calif./Coronado) and senior Emily Siguler (Conway, Mass./The Hotchkiss School) are in ninth in the A division with 53 points. After a couple rough races in the middle of the day, the pair ended the day of racing with a second place finish in the sixth race. In the B division, sophomore Emily Babbitt (Dartmouth, Mass./Bishop Stang) and junior Jamie Loeks (Rye, N.Y./Rye) are in 11th with 60 points. Babbitt and Loeks also had slow start to the championships, but closed out the day with a fourth and fifth place finish.
