Georgetown Sailing Ends Season with a Eighth Place Finish at the 2007 ICSA National Coed Dinghy Championship

Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University sailing team placed eighth at the 2007 ICSA National Coed Dinghy Championship, which concluded today at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.

The Hoyas finished the three-day, 36-race championship with 280 points. College of Charleston repeated as champion, holding off Dartmouth on the final few races to win by one point.

Junior Chris Behm (Hampton, Va./Hampton Roads Academy) and sophomore Carly Chamberlain (Newport Beach, Calif./Newport Harbor) ended the week in seventh in the A division. After finishing in the bottom third of the field in the first two races of the day, Behm and Chamberlain responded with a second place and a seventh place finish to end the day.

In the B division, seniors J.B. Turney (Winnetka, Ill./Lake Forest Academy) and Caroline LaMotte (Oxford, Md./The Hotchkiss School) had their best day of the championship, moving from 11th to eighth on Friday. The pair was in the top-four in three of the four races today.
