Sailing Takes First Place at the MAISA Women's Fall Championship

Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University sailing program competed in two events last weekend. Freshman Charlie Buckingham (Newport Beach, Calif./Newport Harbor) finished sixth of 18 in the ICSA Men's Singlehanded national Championship in Seattle, Wash. while the women took first place at the MAISA Women's Fall Championship in a field of 12 schools. Georgetown was followed up by Navy, Hobart and St. Mary's.

In the MAISA Women's Fall Championship A Division, seniors Blaire Herron (Coronado, Calif./Coronado) and Leigh Fogwell (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) teamed up to take first place. In the B Division, junior Emily Babbitt (Dartmouth, Mass./Bishop Stang) and senior Jamie Loeks (Rye, N.Y./Rye) finished second.

The Hoyas return to competition this weekend, November 11-12 when they compete at the Coed Atlantic Coast Championship, North/South Intersectional and the Women's Atlantic Coast Championship.
