January 11, 2002 WASHINGTON, D.C.— The Georgetown University sailing team competed in the Rose Bowl Regatta last weekend at the University of Southern California and placed third overall. In Long Beach, California, the Hoyas finished with a total of 68 points. Georgetown’s “A” division team, comprised of Brian Bissell (Newport Beach Calif./Newport Harbor), and Melanie Wood (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles), finished the weekend in sixth place with a total of 50 points. Ken Ward (Tampa, Fla./The Hotchkiss School), and Leah Williams (South Dartmouth, Mass./Tabor Academy), Georgetown’s “B” division team, sailed to a strong finish by winning their last three races and ended up in second place with 18 points. The Hoyas sail again on February 9th and 10th at the Charleston Women’s at the College of Charleston during the Old Dominion Tri-Invite.
