Hoya Sailing Rises in Polls After Weekend Regattas

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Georgetown University Coed Sailing Team climbed to No. 5 and the Women's Sailing Team held strong at No. 9 as the Hoyas competed in two regattas last weekend. The results are as follows:

The Hoyas won the first team race intersectional of the 2004 season in convincing fashion.  Two round robins were sailed amongst the 8 teams and Georgetown finished the first round robin at 7-0.  The next round robin saw continued dominance with the only loss coming to South Florida in a very close race.

The Hoya team consisted of five sophomores and one freshman.  Despite their relative inexperience they sailed well and actually beat the top teams from Kings Point and Washington College.  St. Mary's dominated the event with their only loss coming to Georgetown.


The new rankings are out and the team is moving up.
