The Hoyas Coed Sailing Team, first in the sailing world college rankings as of April 3, won the Admiral's Cup and placed third at the Moody Trophy this weekend. The Admiral's Cup, held at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, saw Georgetown finish in the top five 19 times including eight first-place finishes. In the field of 20, Georgetown's "A" division, made up of seniors Ryan Costello (Fairhaven, Mass./Tabor Academy), Dana Scalere (Rockville Centre, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial), and Baye Emery (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich), never finished lower than 10th. Junior Ken Ward (Tampa, Fla./The Hotchkiss School) and junior Leah Williams (South Dartmouth, Mass./Tabor Academy) represented the Hoyas "B" division and claimed four first-place finishes and nine top-five finishes. Senior Raoul Magana (Pacific Palisades, Calif./Loyola) raced in the "C" division and claimed sixth with five top-five finishes. Georgetown also competed in 20 races (10 per division) the Moody Trophy over the weekend. The Hoyas finished in third place with 247 points, just one point behind Boston College while Harvard (210) claimed the victory. Junior Brian Bissell (Newport Beach, Calif./Newport Harbor) and freshman Elizabeth Ryan (Marblehead, Mass./Marblehead) saw first place victory in the "B" Division. In the "A" Division, senior John Camera (Duxbury, Mass./Milton Academy) and senior Gavin Weiss (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich Academy) earned eighth place. The Hoyas will compete in three regattas next weekend, April 21-22: at MAISA Women's Championship at New York Maritime, at Delaware Spring Open at the University of Delaware, and at the Loyola Open at Loyola (Baltimore Harbor).
