Hoya Sailors in Second Place after Day Two of ICSA Championship

6/4/2002

Honolulu, HI—The Georgetown University coed sailing team holds on in second place during day two of the 2002 ICSA North American Team Race Championships.

Sailing in paradise, Georgetown finished day one in first place along side Harvard, each with five wins and no losses. Head Coach Michael Callahan said, “We sailed really well today. We had a tough draw against some tough teams, but we handled that well. We miss Curtis Flood, but Tyler [Haskell] has done a great job filling in.” Starting member Curtis Flood (Richmond, Ky./St. George's School) was unable to participate following a recent foot injury. Sophomore Tyler Haskell (Newport Beach, Calif./Newport Harbor) has been filling in for the injured senior. Skippers Brian Bissell (Newport Beach, Calif./Newport Harbor) and Ken Ward (Tampa, Fla./The Hotchkiss School), both seniors, lead the Hoyas’ strong showing. Day two proved successful for Georgetown as well, with ten wins and one loss securing second place to advance into a double round robin with Harvard, Tufts and Charleston.
