East Meadow, N.Y. - Senior Caitlin Colling (Monson, Mass./Monson) helped break two of her own school-records, as the Georgetown swimming and diving team set three school records overall during the first day of the BIG EAST Championships at the Nassau County Aquatic Center in East Meadow, N.Y. The Hoyas rewrote the school record book in the men's 200 medley relay, the women's 200 medley relay and the women's 800 freestyle relay. Junior Goran Bistric (Saugus, Calif./William S. Hart), freshman Kevin Taylor (Malverne, N.Y./Chaminade), junior David Ballinger (Pleasantville, N.Y./Pleasantville) and sophomore Wes Going (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis University High) were part of the 200 medley relay team that finished ninth in 1:34.84, breaking the previous record set on February 26, 1999. The women's 200 medley relay team, consisting of sophomore Lindsay Vickroy (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga), junior Christina DiNapoli (Saddle River, N.J./Immaculate Heart), sophomore Laura Alito (West Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) and Colling finished tenth in 1:49.12, shaving over a second off the previous record, set on February 16, 2006. Colling was a member of the former record-holding foursome. Colling was part of another record-breaking relay team on Wednesday, as the 800 freestyle team, including sophomore Laura Stark (Martinsville, N.J./Mount St. Mary), freshman Megan Harvey (Norristown, Pa./Notre Dame de Namur) and freshman Mallory Kiplinger (Darien, Conn./Darien) that finished eighth in 7:40.37, taking three seconds off the former record. Colling and Stark helped break a record they set a year ago on February 7.
The Georgetown Men's 800 freestyle relay took ninth place in a time of 7:06.37. Sophomore Brian Koh (Rowland Heights, Calif/Damien), freshman Bryce Hillman (Hamilton, N.J./The Peddie School), freshman Tom Crecelius (West Lafayette, Ind./West Lafayette) and sophomore James LiVolsi (Scotch Plains, N.J./St. Peter's Prep). Freshman Caitlin Karniski (Tampa, Fla./Berkley Prep) finished 23rd during the diving portion of the meet. |
