WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Georgetown University swimming and diving team had three more swimmers post BIG EAST Championship qualifying times, for a total of 19 to qualifiers in their first three meets, as they defeated George Washington (305-281) and Providence College (426-163) on Saturday at McCarthy Pool. The victory over the Friars marks the Hoyas first BIG EAST dual meet win since they defeated Providence in 2002. The Georgetown men's squad swept the dual meet defeating GW 160-133 and Providence 210-82. The women's squad earned a split on the afternoon, defeating Providence 216-81 and falling to GW 148-145. Junior James Livolsi (Scotch Plains, N.J./St. Peter's Prep) finished in fourth place in the 100 yard backstroke in a time of 55.95 and in fourth in the 200 yard backstroke in 1:59.88, both BIG EAST qualifying times. Senior Goran Bistric (Saugus, Calif./William S. Hart) won the 200 yard backstroke in 1:56.30. Sophomore Katharine Lee (New York, N.Y./Spence) finished third in the 100 yard breaststroke in a qualifying time of 1:11.29. Junior Laura Stark (Martinsville, N.J./Mount St. Mary Academy) won the women's 200 yard IM in a qualifying time of 2:13.78 and sophomore Ray Zomerfeld (Coral Gables, Fla./Belin Jesuit Prep) won the men's 200 yard IM in 1:59.57. Zomerfeld had posted a qualifying time for the same event against VMI. Freshman Victor Lopez-Cantera (Miami, Fla./Belin Jesuit Prep) won the 200 yard butterfly in a freshman record time of 1:56.15. It is the second freshman record time Lopez-Cantera has set in his young career. Lopez-Cantera also won the 100 yard butterfly in 52.70.
