Koh and Jordan Win Two Each, as Georgetown Men Win First Dual Meet of 2008

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Sophomore Brian Koh (Rowland Heights, Calif./Damien) won the 1000 yard freestyle and 500 yard freestyle, while Freshman Hamilton Jordan (Frisco, Texas/Jesuit College Prep) took the 100 yard butterfly and 200 yard butterfly to lead Georgetown's men to a 161 - 112 victory over American University. The women's team also defeated the Eagles 164-132, but fell to James Madison University 194-103 in the double dual meet.

Koh and junior teammate Dan Robinson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) outlasted the rest of the field to place first and second in the 1000 yard freestyle finishing in 9:57.74 and 9:59.49 respectively, to record the fifth and sixth fastest times in school history. Both swimmers also registered ECAC qualifying times with their finishes.

Sophomore Laura Alito (West Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) defeated JMU's Amanda Hauck by a tenth of a second, finishing in 1:01.39 to win the 100 yard backstroke. Sophomore Lindsay Vickory (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga) finished third in 1:02.45. Alito also took the top spot in the 100 yard butterfly, finishing in 58.68.

Sophomore Mary McGuire (Port Chester, N.Y./Sacred Heart) posted a BIG EAST qualifying time in the 200 yard butterfly, finishing in third place in 2:14.05. Her time replaces her old mark of 2:14.09 as the tenth fastest in school history.

Freshman Ray Zomerfeld (Coral Gables, Fla./Belin Jesuit Prep) also posted a BIG EAST qualifying time in the 200 yard breaststroke, winning the event in a time of 2:15.17. Freshman Thomas Graham (Washington, D.C./St. Albans) finished in second in 2:18.95.

The men's team turned in a strong showing in the 200 yard butterfly, taking the top four places. Freshman Hamilton Jordan (Frisco, Texas/Jesuit College Prep) led the way at 1:58.25, while junior David Ballinger (Pleasantville, N.Y./Pleasantville) finished second in 2:02.34. Freshman Keenan Timko (Charlottesville, Va./Western Albemarle) and Joe Richman (New Rochelle, N.Y./Horace Mann) rounded out the top four for the Hoyas.

 

 

Robinson, Jordan, Zomerfeld and Koh took the top four spots in the 200 yard individual medley, with Robinson winning in 2:00.52.

Freshman Caitlin Karniski (Tampa, Fla./Berkeley Prep won the women's one-meter diving competition with a final score of 222.07. Freshman Becca Jenkinson (Concord, Mass./Concord Carlisle) finished third with 197.40 points.

Junior Goran Bistric (Saugus, Calif./William S. Hart) won the 200 yard freestyle finishing in 1:55.98. Bistric also swam with freshmen Bryce Hillman (Hamilton, N.J./The Peddie School) and Tom Crecelius (West Lafayette, Ind./West Lafayette) and sophomore Wes Going (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis University High School) on the Hoyas' winning 200 yard freestyle relay team.
