WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Georgetown University swimming and diving team will open its dual meet season on Saturday when they travel to Harrisonburg, Va. to compete against James Madison University and Virginia Military Institute for a meet beginning at noon. It will be the Hoyas first meeting of the season with the Potomac Relays being cancelled last Friday. The trip to Harrisonburg, Va. will be the first during head coach Steven Cartwright's tenure. Cartwright has seen steady improvement from the men's and women's teams since taking over following the 2007 season. The Hoyas broke 12 school-records, 34 all-time top ten times and seven freshman records during the BIG EAST Championships a year ago and lost just four to graduation. "We've been training hard for four weeks we're faster than I thought we'd be at this point," Cartwright said. Four of those records were broken by current senior captain Goran Bistric (Saugus, Calif./William S. Hart), who was one of two Hoyas swimmers to qualify for the finals at the BIG EAST Championship. The other swimmer to qualify for a final heat was junior Laura Stark (Martinsville, N.J./Mt. St. Mary), who finished eighth overall in the 100m butterfly.
