Georgetown Swimming & Diving No. 4 in CSCAA Academic All-American Rankings

Oct. 21, 2008

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Georgetown University swimming and diving team placed fourth, with 3.416 grade point average when the College Swimming Coaches Association of America announced its Division I Academic All-American rankings on Tuesday morning.

"It's a testament to how hard these student-athletes work out of the pool," Georgetown swimming and diving head coach Steven Cartwright said. "Each semester they keep pushing the academic bar higher and higher. It's a goal of this team's every year and a great honor to this team. Each member deserves to be incredibly proud and I'm ecstatic for them."

The Hoyas men's squad placed third with a 3.376 GPA, finishing behind only Dartmouth and Yale. While the women's team finished 14th in the country with a 3.455 grade point average

Georgetown swimming and diving hosts its first dual meet of the season on Friday, October 24 when East Carolina comes to McCarthy Pool at 4 p.m. The Hoyas return to action on Saturday as George Washington and BIG EAST rival Providence compete in a double dual meet in McCarthy Pool, with diving starting at 11 a.m. and swimming starting at 1 p.m.
