Swimming and Diving Competing in Patriot Invitational This Weekend

Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University swimming & diving teams will be one of eight schools competing at the Jim McKay Natatorium this weekend as the 2008 Patriot Invitational takes place from Friday to Sunday. The event, hosted by George Mason University, begins today at 10 a.m. with the preliminaries, while the Friday finals are set to begin at 6 p.m. Saturday's competition will follow the same schedule as Friday, while the Sunday preliminaries and finals will begin one hour earlier, at 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., respectively.

Admission to the meet is $8 for an all-day pass and $5 for individual session passes.

Along with the Hoyas, teams from American, George Mason, George Washington, Seton Hall, Shippensburg, UMBC, and UNC Wilmington will compete at the three-day event.

At their last event, the team had 10 swimmers post BIG EAST Championship qualifying times, including freshman Kristen Pratt (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo) who broke the school record in the 200 butterfly (2:08.17), and the Hoyas defeated Lafayette (311.5-284.5). The Blue & Gray received first-place finishes from Pratt in the 100 (59.36) and 200 butterfly and sophomore Caitlin Karniski (Tampa, Fla./Berkley Prep) in the one-meter dive (231.95).
