Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown women's cross country team took 16th place at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, held in Terre Haute, Ind. today. Stanford won with 195 points, while the Hoyas were 16th with 403 points. The men placed 24th with 547 points as Colorado won the event with 94.
For the women, junior Melissa Grelli (Cupertino, Calif./Presentation) was the top Hoya finisher with a time of 21:30.6, enough for 39th place overall. With a time of 21:34.0, senior Elizabeth Maloy (Loudonville, N.Y./The Academy of Holy Names) took 44th. Rounding out the top finishers on the women's side were juniors Jennie Funk (Iowa City, Iowa/Iowa City) and Maggie Infeld (University Heights, Ohio/Beaumont). Funk timed in at 22:12.6 and Infeld had a time of 22:21.8.
For the men, senior Andre LaBoy (Danbury, Conn./Danbury) led the Hoyas, finishing in 116th place. Junior Justin Scheid (Sparta, N.J./Pope John XXII) and senior Brian Dalpiaz (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) took 125th and 129th place, respectively.
