March 29, 2008 Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University baseball team dropped a close one in Tampa, Fla. this evening to USF, 2-1. The Hoyas allowed two runs in the first inning and could not get the equalizer. Sophomore Tim Adleman threw a complete game, allowing two runs on five hits, while striking out eight USF batters. After the Hoyas fell behind in the first, they would cut the deficit in half during the fifth inning. Junior Sean Baumann reached first and advanced to second on a throwing error by the USF third baseman, then moved to third on a groundout by sophomore Chip Malt. USF freshman right-hander Randy Fontanez uncorked a wild pitch to score Baumann and make the score 2-1. For the game, the Hoyas left six men on base after accumulating four hits. Adleman was saddled with the loss and fell to 3-2. The Hoyas will play USF in game two of their three-game series on Saturday at 7 p.m.
