Final Baseball Homestand for Six Graduating Hoya Seniors

Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University baseball team will honor its six graduating seniors prior the start of their BIG EAST doubleheader with Villanova this Saturday, May 12, at 4 p.m. The Hoyas six seniors are Brandon Davis (Poway, Calif./The Bishop's School), Derek deGrijs (Nashville, Tenn./Goodpasture), Mark Dutmers (Sarasota, Fla./Riverview), Joseph Graziano (Floral Park, N.Y./Chaminade), Mike Hoy (Southlake, Texas/Southlake), and Mark McLaughlin (Walnut Creek, Calif./De La Salle).

Davis has appeared in 148 games, starting 126. For his career, Davis has collected over 100 hits and driven in 85 runs. This season he currently ranks second on the team in multi-RBI games with six and is third on the team in runs batted in with 24. Last year, Davis led the team in runs batted in with 40, and tied for second on the team in home runs with four. He also finished tied for third on the team in doubles (12). From behind the plate, Davis threw out 29 batters and at the plate, led the team in multi-RBI games with 10 and also had 12 multi-hit games. Prior to Georgetown, Davis was a member of two Coastal League Championships while at the Bishop's School.

deGrijs has appeared in 157 games, starting 102. For his career, deGrijs needs three hits to eclipse the century mark as a Hoya. This season he is currently second on the team in runs scored, walks and stolen bases and third in hits. deGrijs holds the longest hitting streak of the season with 11 and is third on the team with nine multi-hit games. He also holds the distinction of being tied for the Georgetown season-high of times hit by pitched balls, with 11. Last season, he finished second on the team in batting average (.280), and third in on-base percentage (.373) and stolen bases (10) while finishing with nine multi-hit games. Prior to Georgetown, he was a member of the Goodpasture baseball team's District Championship squads (2000-2003) State Tournament participant.

Dutmers has made 74 appearances for the Hoyas, accumulating six wins and 80 strikeouts. This season, he is tied for third on the team in wins (2) while holding a 2.84 ERA. Last year, Dutmers tied for the team lead in relief appearances with 23, and was second on the team in total appearances (25), ERA (4.08), and opposing batting average (.228)

Graziano has appeared in 80 games for the Hoys, starting 47 of them. He currently ranks second on the team in slugging percentage (.525) and is third on the team in batting average (.279) and on-base percentage (.389). As a sophomore, Graziano batted .310 in 84 at bats with nine RBI and 12 runs scored. Prior to Georgetown, he was a member of Chaminade's undefeated State Championship team in 1999 and 2000 and 2001 State Championship team, which he won with a walk-off homer

Hoy has appeared in 26 games during his two years of baseball at Georgetown. Hoy's 15 relief appearances last season were the fourth-highest on the team. Prior to Georgetown, Hoy also played football, basketball and track at Southlake. In football, he was named All-State as a senior, recognized with the "C" Award, helped the team to a State Championship. In baseball, he was a Regional Finalist as a senior

McLaughlin has appeared in 153 games, starting 143 games for the Blue and Gray. He currently leads the Hoyas in numerous statistical categories such as batting average, runs, hits, doubles, on-base percentage and stolen bases. McLaughlin, for his career, has a batting average of .317 and has delivered 171 hits and scored 108 runs while knocking in 72. He has also compiled 42 doubles and 62 stolen bases. This year, McLaughlin has compiled the second longest hitting streak on the team, 9 games, and has also picked up multiple hits in 22 games. Last season, he led the team in batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, runs scored, walks and stolen bases while tying for the team lead in hits. Prior to Georgetown, McLaughlin received numerous accolades during high school including being named First Team All-Bay Athletic League (2003), Second Team All-Contra Costa County (2003), First Team All- Tri-Valley, Team Captain (2003), and Athlete of the Year Nominee (2003).
