Washington, D.C. - Sophomore center Roy Hibbert (Adelphi, Md./Georgetown Prep) scored a career-high 25 points to lead three players in double figures and No. 23 Georgetown connected on more than half of its field goals en route to a 66-50 win over Rutgers in front of 11,236 fans at the MCI Center Wednesday night.

The win ends a three-game losing streak for the Hoyas, who improve to 18-7 overall and 9-5 in the BIG EAST. Rutgers falls to 15-12 overall and 5-9 in league play.

Hibbert connected on 10-of-13 shots from the field, scoring 13 points in the first half as the Hoyas opened up a 14-point lead (34-20). Georgetown extended its lead to as many as 18 points in the second half, taking a 49-31 lead on a three-pointer from senior guard Darrel Owens (Napoleonville, La./Assumption) with 11:41 to play.

Rutgers outscored Georgetown 11-2 run over a 7:04 span and cut the Hoya lead to 11 points, 53-42, on a three-pointer from guard Quincy Douby - who scored a game-high 29 points. The Hoyas, however, extended the lead back to 14 points, 56-42, when Hibbert hit a layup and was fouled for a conventional three-point play.

Georgetown matched its biggest lead of the game with 1:27 to play when sophomore forward Jeff Green (Hyattsville, Md./Northwestern) hit a pair of free throws.

Thanks to the play of Hibbert, who connected on 6-of-8 shots from the field, the Hoyas jumped out to a 34-20 lead at halftime. Georgetown dominated in the paint, out-scoring the Scarlet Knights 22-4, and holding a 23-10 advantage in rebounding at the break.

Rutgers trailed by only two points, 11-9, after Douby hit a jumper with 12:40 to play and were down only three points, 17-14, after a three-pointer from the BIG EAST's leading scorer. The Hoyas scored seven-straight points over a 3:04 span - a dunk by Green, a layup from freshman guard Jessie Sapp (New York, N.Y./National Christian Academy) and a three-pointer from sophomore guard Jonathan Wallace (Harvest, Ala./Sparkman) - to take a 24-14 lead.

Hibbert scored 25 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while Owens added 11 points, five assists and four rebounds and Wallace added 10 points, a career-high six rebounds and six assists. Green finished with nine points, six rebounds and five assists.

The Hoyas connected on 52.0 percent of its field goals (26-of-50), 31.8 percent of its three-pointers (7-of-22) and 70.0 percent of its free throws (7-of-10). Rutgers shot 31.1 percent from the field (14-of-14) and hit only 23.8 percent of its three-pointers (5-of-21). The Hoyas held a 37-24 advantage in rebounding.

Georgetown plays its final home game of the regular season on Saturday, February 25, hosting Syracuse in a key BIG EAST matchup at the MCI Center. Tip off is slated for noon on Senior Day. The game will be shown live on ESPN Plus (WJLA locally) and can be heard on SportsTalk 980 AM.
