WASHINGTON, D.C. - Former Georgetown forward Victor Samnick (BS '03) registered a double-double, scoring 16 points and pulling down 10 rebounds in 23 minutes to help lead Sluc Nancy over Roanne, 84-53 in the French Pro A League Championship game last week. By winning the French Championship, Samnick and his teammates will compete in the Euroleague, the highest caliber of European basketball, next season. Samnick played in 37 games for Sluc Nancy during the season, averaging nine points and six rebounds. For Samnick it was his second consecutive year playing for a championship in France, where he is a three-time All-Star. Prior to joining Sluc Nancy in 2006 Samnick had played for Paris Basket Racing. During his four-year Georgetown career, the Daola, Cameroon native averaged 4.7 points and 4.0 rebounds in 111 games, playing alongside the likes of Michael Sweetney, Gerald Riley and fellow Cameroonian Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje in the frontcourt. His senior season was his best, as he averaged 5.4 points and 3.9 rebounds, in 32 games for a team that advanced National Invitation Tournament finals. Samnick, graduated from the Hilltop in 2003 with a bachelor of arts degree from the business school.
