Sept. 8, 2006 WASHINGTON DC - 19 contests with opponents who appeared in post season tournaments last season (including two matchups with NCAA Elite 8 teams and a game with the NIT Finalists) highlight the 2006-2007 Georgetown University Men's Basketball schedule. The toughest schedule in recent history, the Hoyas have 12 nationally televised games including a pair of late season matchups on CBS. GU's home slate of BIG EAST opponents will open on January 6 when the Hoyas host Notre Dame (16-14 NIT) and continue two days later when Villanova (28-5 NCAA Elite 8) visits the Verizon Center (ESPN). On January 24 DePaul visits (ESPN2) and on the 27th Cincinnati (21-13 NIT) comes to DC. In February Georgetown hosts Marquette (20-11 NCAA) on the 10th (ESPN) and two days later hosts West Virginia (22-11 NCAA). Pittsburgh (25-8 NCAA) comes to Washington on February 24 (CBS) and the Hoyas close their home slate with Connecticut (30-4 NCAA Elite 8) on March 3 (CBS). BIG EAST road matchups begin with a three game set- at Pittsburgh (25-8 NCAA) on January 13 (ESPN), at Rutgers (19-14 NIT) on January 17 and at Seton Hall (18-12 NCAA) on January 19. The Hoyas open the month of February at St. John's on the 1st (ESPN) and travel to Louisville (21-13 NIT) on the 7th (ESPN). On February 17 GU is at Villanova (28-5 NCAA Elite 8) (ESPN) and on February 21 at Cincinnati (21-13 NIT) before closing the regular season's list of conference road games at Syracuse (23-12 NCAA) on February 26 (ESPN). This season the Hoyas will not face South Florida or Providence. Georgetown's non conference slate will include a game at Duke (32-4 NCAA) on December 2 (ESPN2), a home stand vs Old Dominion (24-10 NIT) on November 19 at McDonough Arena, a meeting at Michigan (18-10 NIT Finalist) on December 30 (ESPN2), at Vanderbilt (17-13 NIT) on November 15, as well as home games vs Oral Roberts (21-12 NCAA) on December 9 and Oregon on November 29. Home games vs local opponents will include Towson on December 20, Navy on December 23 and James Madison on December 5. Fairfield, Winston Salem, and Hartford, make up the remainder of the non-conference dates with November 27 marking the date of Thompson vs Thompson as John III's Hoyas host brother Ronny's Ball State squad.
