Georgetown Men's Basketball to Appear on MASN Nine Times this Season

Nov. 11, 2008

WASHINGTON, D.C. - More than 20 Georgetown University men's basketball games will be televised during the 2008-09 season, including nine games slated to appear on the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN).

MASN, the official cable network of Georgetown basketball, recently announced its 2008-09 college basketball schedule, featuring nine Hoya games.

The Hoyas, who were picked seventh in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' poll, open the season on Monday, Nov. 17, hosting Jacksonville at Verizon Center. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. and the game will be shown live on MASN, with Jason Knapp and Mark Tillmon calling all of the action.

"We're fortunate to have a strong broadcast relationship with MASN," Georgetown Director of Athletics Bernard Muir said. "They are a tremendous partner and have been a great outlet in bringing Georgetown basketball to millions of fans."

MASN, the Mid-Atlantic leader in live sports coverage with more than 520 professional and NCAA events annually, is televising its third year of Georgetown basketball. This year, MASN will air 200 college basketball games, more than any other regional sports network in the country.

Other Georgetown games slated to appear on MASN this season include non-league games against American (Dec. 6) and Mt. St. Mary's (Dec. 20).

The Hoyas will also appear on MASN six times during the BIG EAST season, with games at Seton Hall (Jan. 25), at Marquette (Jan. 31), Rutgers (Feb. 3), Cincinnati (Feb. 7), at USF (Feb. 18) and at St. John's (March 3) all slated to air.

The Mid-Atlantic Sports Network is the region's only locally-owned regional sports network and is the television home of the Baltimore Orioles and the Washington Nationals. Because of its hometown ownership, MASN is committed to the community and brings home the best in local sports programming throughout the year.

MASN is also home to the BIG EAST Game of the Week in both football and basketball and televises more than 200 NCAA football, basketball and lacrosse games each year.
