12/6/2003 The Hoyas ran their unbeaten streak to 6 on 12/06/03, beating Davidson 71-53. In a balanced attack, Brandon Bowman led the scoring with 20 points. Brandon also pulled down 7 boards, blocked 3 shots and had 5 steals. Gerald Riley scored 19 points and led the team in rebounding with 9 caroms. Darrel Owens contributed 13 tallies and tied Bowman in steals with 5. Ashanti Cook added 12 points, 8 rebounds and paced the team in assists with 5. For the Wildcats, Ian Johnson scored 20, Brendan Winters added 14 and Logan Kosmalski led all rebounders with 12 caroms. In the first half, the Hoyas held the Wildcats scoreless for the first 6 minutes, scoring 10 before the visitors got on the scoreboard. Davidson?s outside shots kept them in the game, for although they trailed by as many as 12 on 3 occasions in the first frame, they also twice came to within 4 of the Hoyas. The Hoya lead at intermission was 37-28. In the second stanza the Hoyas turned up the defensive pressure and pulled away from their opponents. Georgetown forced a total of 26 turnovers for the second consecutive game, and made 15 steals. Steals and fastbreaks combined with good free throw shooting made for the difference in the second frame as the Hoyas led by as many as 24 in the closing minutes. For the game, Georgetown shot 42.4% while holding Davidson to 36.8%. The Hoyas lost the battle of the boards 41-33 but caused 26 turnovers while giving up 14. GU shot 77.8% from the stripe.
