Georgetown Men's Crew Opens Spring Season with Impressive Outing

Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University men's crews opened the spring season competing in Camden, N.J. this past Sunday, March 25. The Hoyas went up against boats from Holy Cross, St. Joseph's and Loyola in a various amount of races and on the day, finished with four top-finishers.

Georgetown won the Varsity 8 with a time of 6:22.3, beating the next closest school, Holy Cross, by 8.4 seconds. The Hoyas then won the Second Varsity 8 as the Georgetown "A" boat won the event with a time of 6:29.0. The Georgetown "B" boat finished with a time of 6:42.2, good enough for third place in the event.

Both of Georgetown 4+ boats were also victorious on this day as the Varsity +4 and the Freshman +4 posted wins in their events. In the Varsity 4+ race, Georgetown's crew defeated a crew from St. Joseph's, while in the Freshman 4+ race, Georgetown's heavyweights finished first as the lightweights finished third.

The Hoyas also competed in the Freshman/Novice 8 and placed three boats in the top five. The lone Georgetown lightweight crew in the race finished second with a time of 7:04.2. Georgetown's two teams of heavyweight rowers finished third and fifth respectively as Georgetown "B" came in with a time of 7:07.4 and Georgetown "A" wound up with a time of 7:13.2.

This Saturday, March 31, the men's crews will head to Princeton, N.J. to race against Princeton and Columbia.
