Georgetown Continues to Battle at IRA Regatta

Washington, D.C. - Georgetown crew continued action at the 2006 Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Regatta on Friday on the Cooper River in Camden, N.J.

The Georgetown women started action on Friday in the lightweight eight bracket. The Hoyas were third in heat #2 (6:46.35), dropping them into the second repechage race. However, they won that race with a time of 7:01.5 to qualify for Saturday's grand final.

The Hoyas' men's open four on Friday were third in the repechage #2 race at 6:46.04 in order to advance to Saturday's petite final.

In the third semifinal race in the men's varsity eight, the Hoyas (5:56.02) beat Michigan in a photo finish by 0.16 seconds to move onto Saturday's 3rd final.

The Georgetown men's freshman eight, who advanced to the 'A' semifinals with their success on Thursday, finished sixth in that race (6:14.35) and advanced to tomorrow's petite final.
