Hoyas Sweep 2000 Georgetown Rowing Regatta for BIG EAST Schools

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Georgetown University crews won the Don D. Cadle Points Trophy for the seventh-consecutive year at the Seventh Annual Georgetown Invitational Rowing Regatta for BIG EAST Schools, held today, April 30, on the Potomac River. The Regatta, sponsored by Rocklands Barbeque, took place under sunny skies and breezy conditions. The large crowd on hand saw the Hoyas take home the Don D. Cadle Trophy for Overall Points by posting 85 points on the day. Syracuse was second with 51 points, followed by Villanova in third place with 45 points and Boston College in fourth with 38. Notre Dame claimed fifth with 34 points; Virginia Tech and Rutgers tied for sixth place with 22 points each; and Temple and Miami tied for seventh with 14 points apiece. Rounding out the finishers were Connecticut in eighth place with six points, and West Virginia in ninth with one point.

Georgetown won a total of five events on the day. The GU men captured the frosh/novice lightweight eight, varsity four, and the varsity lightweight eight, while the Hoya women were victorious in the varsity lightweight four and the women's varsity lightweight eight.
