WORCESTER, Mass. -- Georgetown's men's crew teams competed this past weekend at the Championship International Collegiate Regatta held Sunday, May 14, on Lake Quinsigamond. GU's Novice Eight squad finished in first place with a time of 6:04.20, one minute ahead of second place Michigan.

The Varsity Eight team did not fare as well. Despite slashing almost eight seconds from its preliminary heat time of 6:04.06, the V8+ team placed fifth in its race with a time of 5.56.87. Virginia won the final in a time of 5:45.75.

In the men's Second Novice Eight competition, GU claimed a distant second with a time of 6:31.85. Michigan led the race from start to finish and won in 6:17.38.

The Hoyas placed third in the Grand Final of the Second Varsity Eight competition crossing the line in 6:17.07.

GU will be in action again on May 21, at the Eastern Association of Rowing Colleges (EARC) Sprints Championships which will be held in Worcester, Mass.
