Lightweight Eight Finishes Seventh At Head Of The Charles


Five boats reach finals for Georgetown crew.

WASHINGTON D.C. (Oct. 24, 1999) -- Georgetown sent six boats to compete at the Head of the Charles in Boston, Mass. on Saturday-Sunday, October 23-24. At the regatta, GU had five boats reach the finals with its best performance in the men's lightweight eight race.

The Hoyas turned in a solid seventh-place finish with a time of 15:39.23 in the lightweight eight. GU's next top finish was in the men's champion four race, where the Hoyas clocked a time of 18:12.41. Georgetown's men's lightweight four squad edged out Penn State to finish 20th in a time of 18:11.59.

GU's women's squad clocked a time of 21:21.42 for 24th place in the women's champion four race. The women's champion eight did not reach the finals as it finished 41st with a time of 18:54.05 in the preliminary race.
