Dassin Blackwell is in his second season as an assistant coach with the Georgetown program. He will oversee the running backs.

During his first season with the Hoyas, Blackwell worked with running back Charlie Houghton, who was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Year, the first Georgetown player to win one of the league's major awards.

Blackwell came to the Hilltop after serving as a graduate assistant at Hofstra University, where he helped guide the Pride to a 7-4 record, including wins over nationally-ranked Delaware and Massachusetts.

Prior to his stint at Hofstra, Blackwell spent the 2004-05 academic year as the tight ends coach and academic coordinator at Iona College. While at Iona, Blackwell coached two-time Don Hansen All American Dan Campbell, and the program saw its cumulative grade-point average raise from 2.54 in 2003 to 2.91 in 2005.

Blackwell got his start in the collegiate ranks under Hoya offensive coordinator Jim Miceli, who hired him as an assistant and strength and conditioning coordinator at Bryant University. He spent two years coaching at Bryant, overseeing the wide receivers and running backs during the 2003 season, and serving as the secondary coach in 2002.

He also served as an assistant coach and director of admissions at Bridgton Academy in 2001-02. While at Bridgton, he coached a secondary unit that included three future Division I players, Jacob Stewart (Michigan), Brandon Caesar (Colorado) and E.J. Jackson (Northeastern). Prior to that, Blackwell was a graduate assistant at Assumption College, overseeing the wide receivers in football and serving as the women's lacrosse coach. He tutored two-time All-American goalie Meg Foran during that time.

A 1998 graduate of Towson University, Blackwell earned a bachelor's of science in exercise science. He played defensive back from 1995-97.
