Thirty-two members of the Georgetown University football team were named to the 2006 Patriot League Football Academic Honor Roll, it was announced Friday, February 2 from the league office in Center Valley, Pa.
To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the fall semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the seven League-sponsored fall championship sports.
With 32, the Hoyas placed the most student-athletes on the list, followed by Bucknell (18), Holy Cross (16), Fordham (14), Lehigh (11), Colgate (8) and Lafayette (7) for a total of 106 student-athletes representing football. Overall, 532 student-athletes were named to the Patriot League's Fall Academic Honor Roll, which includes the sports of men and women's cross country, field hockey, football, men and women's soccer and volleyball.
Under first-year Head Coach Kevin Kelly, the Blue and Gray doubled the number of student-athletes named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll as 16 student-athletes received the honor in 2005. Georgetown ended the 2006 regular season with a 2-9 overall record and a 0-6 mark in league play.
