Ononibaku Named to 2004 NCAA I-AA Football Gazette First Team All-Atlantic Region Team

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Georgetown University's Michael Ononibaku (Amherst, Mass. /Amherst) was today named to Don Hansen's Football Gazette's 2004 NCAA Division I-AA First Team Defense All-Atlantic Region team.

Ononibaku, who was named captain for the 2005 season, had an outstanding junior year. He was the recipient of two awards at the conclusion of the 2004 season: the Al Blozis Award for Most Valuable Player and the Joseph Eacobacci Memorial Jersey Award. This is the second consecutive season that Ononibaku was honored with the Joseph Eacobacci Memorial Jersey Award. Ononibaku was also named to the All-Patriot League First Team and ended the 2004 season as the Patriot League's leader in tackles for a loss with 1.68 per game and tied for the league lead in total sacks with 10.5. Ononibaku also ranked tied for eighth in the nation in both sacks and tackles for loss as well as ranking fifth all-time at Georgetown in sacks with 20.5.
