Georgetown Football Announces Newcomers for 2008 Season

May 8, 2008

Washington, D.C. - Georgetown University Head Football Coach Kevin Kelly has announced that 32 student-athletes will join the Hoya program this fall for the 2008 season. The newcomers come from 16 different states, including five from Texas, four from Connecticut, Ohio and New Jersey. There are also two from Florida, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania and one apiece from Arizona, California, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, New York, Rhode Island, Virginia and Wisconsin.

"We are extremely pleased with this year's incoming class," Kelly said. "The coaching staff has worked very hard and we're pleased with the depth and quality of this group. We have a diverse group of athletes who we think can contribute quickly in a variety of areas for the team."

The biographies on the members of the Class of 2012 include a long laundry list of all-conference, all-state and all-academic accolades. "I think we have a class of young men who come from strong football backgrounds," Kelly said. "The quality of this class is exciting not only for the coaching staff, but for the future of Georgetown Football."

Georgetown opens the 2008 season on Saturday, September 6 at Howard, the first-ever meeting between the only schools in the Nation's Capitol that play football. The Hoyas' home opener is Saturday, September 27 against Patriot League rival Holy Cross.
