Georgetown Summer Journal - Week Four

June 26, 2006

Welcome! We dominated our 7-on-7 versus Bowie State. Saturday's performance proved to be our best one of the summer up to this point. There were many notable performances. Offensively, Nick Cangelosi played quarterback, and connected with many receivers. Kyle Van Fleet posted 16 catches for 3 touchdowns; Matt Cooper caught 6 passes; Sidney Baker caught 4 passes for 2 touchdowns; Jasper Ihezie caught 3 balls for 1 score; Emir Davis caught 2 passes; and Jarrod Kohl and Brian Newman both caught 1 pass on the afternoon.

Defensively, we also had a strong outing. Darren Craft and Derek Franks posted 1 interception apiece. Brian Tandy, who locked down receivers all day, Darren Craft, who played very strong, Derek Franks, who put the claps on receivers all afternoon, and John Lancaster and Matt Barbiasz all recorded several pass break-ups.

The word to describe last weekend's scrimmage was CONSISTENT. We came out offensively and asserted ourselves and never faltered. Defensively we had a few miscommunications in the early going, but were able to regain composure and focus, allowing us to play several strong series to close out the afternoon. Last weekend's scrimmage is the break out performance we need to take all of the positive momentum into the University of Maryland when we face the Terrapins in 3 weeks.

The boys here in DC are still committed to excellence, and with every workout comes a desire to excel further than the workout before. Many are tired and sore, but they know the anguish endured today will come to fruition tomorrow. Stay hungry and fight through! Continue to log in your numbers and work hard. We are all downhill from here in terms of the summer program. There are approximately 4 weeks remaining. Don't let your determination waver. Work hard! Work harder!

"In essence, if we want to direct our lives, we must take control of our consistent actions. It's not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives, but what we do consistently."
-- Anthony Robbins
