July 26, 2006 Welcome! This past week was extremely productive with more athletes passing their conditioning tests. We had a positive performance vs. Bowie State in our 7-on-7 on Saturday, where offensively Brent Craft made several catches and posted four touchdowns, Erik Carter who is returning from injury, posted several catches and two scores, and Sidney Baker posted three touchdowns with many catches. Defensively, Chris Paulus intercepted a pass and returned it 85 yards for a score. On the afternoon, our play was consistent. A truer determinant of the effectiveness of the grueling workouts we have endured will come today when we face the Maryland Terrapins in our last scrimmage of the summer. We were stride for stride with the Terps the last time we met, but were bested. This week we look to play tough, consistent, and secure the victory. Continuing with the theme of consistency, we are coming to the last weeks of the 2006 Summer Program. The true men of summer have not lost a step. We have come to grips with the fact that it is not getting much easier; on Friday morning we had an intense workout, which consisted of running up multiple flights of the "Exorcist" steps, a set of approximately 100 steps that are very steep. After that, we hit the weight room hard. We here in DC want to reiterate to those in their respective states that judgment day is near. Work hard! Work harder!
"A man can be as great as he wants to be. If you believe in yourself and have the courage, the determination, the dedication, the competitive drive and if you are willing to sacrifice the little things in life and pay the price for the things that are worthwhile, it can be done."
Peace,
