July 28, 2006 Washington, D.C. - Georgetown University Head Football Coach Kevin Kelly, along with senior co-captains Alex Buzbee (Chester, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) and Liam Grubb (Massapequa, N.Y./Chaminade) will kick off the 2006 Hoya football season on Tuesday when they travel to participate in Patriot League Media Day at Green Pond Country Club in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The Patriot League will announce its preseason award winners and predicted order of finish after a brief welcome at 10 a.m. Kelly and his student-athletes will meet with the media and participate in interviews between 10:15 and 11 a.m. Following the interview session, Grubb will be one of six players available for an on-line chat, which will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:55 p.m. Grubb will be on-line from 11:55 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Other league players expected to participate include Colgate quarterback Mike Saraceno, Holy Cross senior linebacker Dan Adams, Lehigh quarterback Sedale Threatt, Lafayette senior offensive lineman Mike Saint Germain and Bucknell senior offensive lineman Stefan Niemczak. Following their return to the Hilltop, Kelly and his players will get ready for the team's first day of practice, on Tuesday, August 8. Georgetown will host its annual Media Day on Wednesday, August 9 at 1 p.m. The team will practice at 4 p.m. that day. In other Georgetown football news, Buzbee was named as an honorable mention All-America selection by the Don Hansen Football Gazette earlier this week. Buzbee was one of three Georgetown players honored by the Patriot League following the 2005 season. He earned second-team league honors for the second-straight season. He finished the season with 44 tackles (29 solo), ranking among the top-30 in the conference. In addition, the junior was fifth in the Patriot League with 6.5 sacks and fourth in the league with 12.5 tackles for loss. In conference action, Buzbee led the league with 5.0 sacks in seven games, and was second in tackles for loss with 9.0. Georgetown opens the 2006 football season on Saturday, September 2, hosting Holy Cross at the Multi-Sport Field.
