Georgetown Football vs. Howard Postponed Until Sunday

Sept. 6, 2008

Washington, D.C. - Georgetown University's football season opener at Howard University has been postponed until Sunday, September 7 at 1 p.m. due to inclement weather in the D.C. Metropolitan area.

The Hoyas and the Bison were slated to meet on Saturday, September 6 at Howard's William T. Greene Stadium for the first-ever meeting between the two schools that sponsor the sport at the Football Championship Subdvision Level, but poor weather conditions due to Tropical Storm Hanna forced the postponement.

"We're obviously disappointed to move the game, but we did so with the safety of student-athletes and fans in mind," Georgetown Head Football Coach Kevin Kelly said. "The weather conditions should be much better on Sunday and we're looking forward to starting what could be a great college football rivalry for the Nation's Capital."
