NEW YORK (AP)(Sept. 16) - Dave Paulus (So., Manlius, N.Y./CBA) threw three touchdown passes, including the go-ahead score to Aaron Brown (Jr., Willingboro, N.J./St. Joseph's Prep) in the fourth quarter, as Georgetown beat Wagner 28-21 Sept. 16. Paulus finished 14-for-27 for 176 yards with one interception for the Hoyas (1-1), who rallied from a 14-0 deficit. Aaron Smith completed 19 of 36 passes for 263 yards with a touchdown and an interception for the Seahawks (1-1). Smith also ran for a score. Paulus' 5-yard pass to Brown put Georgetown ahead 28-21 with 9:18 to play. Wagner drove for a tying score, but John Campbell was stopped on fourth-and-goal from the 2 with 2:09 remaining. A 7-yard pass from Smith to Clint Signor gave Wagner a 7-0 first-quarter lead, and the Seahawks added another score in the second quarter on Campbell's 7-yard run. Paulus threw a pair of 26-yard scoring passes in the second quarter, hitting Gharun Hester (Sr., Fort Washington, Md./Friendly) and George Sumner (Sr., Newport Beach, Calif./Corona del Mar) as the Hoyas tied it 14-14.
Georgetown took its first lead on a 2-yard run by Dawon Dicks (Fr., Bridgeport, Conn./Notre Dame) late in the second, but Smith's 4-yard run early in the third tied the game 21-21.
