The Georgetown University men's golf team shot a 12-over par in the second round and a 19-over par 307 in the final round of play and finished in 13th place at the First Energy Intercollegiate, held at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio this weekend. The Hoyas closed out the 2006-07 season by finishing 13th in the field of 17 teams. The Blue and Gray had struggled in the first round with a 24-over par 312 and faced an uphill battle, but they responded with one of their best rounds of the spring with a 12-over par 300 and had a strong finish. Eastern Kentucky shot a four-over par 868 to top the 17-team field, one stroke ahead of host Akron (five-over par 869). Charlotte took third with an eight-over par 872, followed by Eastern Michigan (13-over par 877) and Bowling Green (23-over par 887). Ohio placed sixth (31-over par 895), followed by Northern Illinois (33-over par 897), Ball State (36-over par 900), with Miami of Ohio and Western Kentucky (37-over par 901) tying for ninth place. Stefan Wiedergruen of Charlotte, Graham Hill of Eastern Michigan and Ben Wood of Miami (Ohio) tied for first place at one-under par 215. Senior Tim Moynihan (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) led Georgetown, tying for 43rd place at 12-over par 228. Moynihan shot a two-over par 74 in the final round. Senior Matt Busa (Cleveland, Ohio/St. Ignatius), playing near his hometown, tied for 46th place at 13-over par 229. Sophomore Tim Hager (Ivyland, Pa.) tied for 65th place at 17-over par 233, sophomore Patrick Sherry (Brookeville, Md.) tied for 73rd place at 21-over par 237 and junior David Praet (Oakland Township, Mich./Notre Dame Prep) tied for 85th place at 24-over par 240.
