Washington, D.C. - It's been quite a weekend for Georgetown University golfers. A pair of Hoyas, one a senior on the women's team and another a freshman on the men's team, won individual titles at weekend tournaments. On Monday afternoon outside of Chicago, freshman Brian Dorfman (Greenwood Village, Colo.) shot a two-under par 70 in the final round and took home medalist honors in just his second collegiate event, finishing with a 54-hole score of seven-under par 209. After being tied for first place following the opening day of play, Dorfman topped the field of 87 golfers by two strokes. Dorfman's win came one day after Georgetown University senior women's golfer Chelsea Curtis (Mashpee, Mass./Cape Cod Academy) won the Princeton Invitational in New Jersey, leading the Hoyas to a third place team finish. As a team, the Georgetown men shot a 14-over par 302 in the final round on Monday and finished in fourth place at 13-over par 877. The Hoyas had held a two shot lead after the first 36 holes. Nova Southeastern shot a seven-over par 295 and finished tied for first place with Southern Illinois at nine-over par 873. Nova Southeastern won the team title in a playoff. Detroit Mercy placed fourth at 11-over par 875, two shots ahead of the Hoyas, while Drake rounded out the top-five at 14-over par 878. Georgetown had two players among the top-10 with junior Vincenzo Salina (Vandoeuvres, Switzerland/Institut Florimont) tying for eighth place at even par 140. Senior Tim Hager (Ivyland, Pa./Council Rock North) tied for 39th place at 11-over par 227, freshman Taylor Hall tied for 43rd place at 12-over par 228 and senior Garrett Logan (Henderson, Nev./Bishop Gorman) is tied for 47th place at 13-over par 229. Georgetown plays next on October 6-7 at the Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic. Team Scores
