February 28, 2003 WASHINGTON, D.C. – Georgetown University Head Coach Tommy Hunter announced that two recruits have committed to attend Georgetown University and play men’s golf for the Hoyas in the 2003-04 season. Tim Moynihan (Franklin Regional H.S./Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Matt Busa (St. Ignatius/Cleveland, Ohio) will join the GU line-up for the fall semester. Moynihan’s had a successful summer that was capped off by qualifying for the 2002 U.S. Junior Amateur held at the Atlanta Athletic Club. Although Moynihan did not advance in Match Play, the experience will prove beneficial as he prepares for intercollegiate play. Moynihan was named to the Pennsylvania All-State Team three consecutive years. Busa, one of Ohio’s top players, was just an eyelash away from a trip to the Atlanta Athletic Club when his 74-74 148 performance at Muirfield Village fell just one shot short. He was named as an alternate for the 2002 U.S. Junior Amateur. His 73-72 145 effort in the 2002 Ohio Open solidified his standing among Ohio pros and top amateurs. “Two quality young men who can really play the game,” is how Head Coach Tommy Hunter describes Moynihan and Busa. “Both Timmy and Matt have had an enormous amount of tournament experience, which separates them from the average high school player. We are thrilled they have chosen to be a part of the Hoya family.” The men’s golf program opens up the 2003 spring season on March 24-25 when the Hoyas play in the William and Mary Invitational in Williamsburg, Va. at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Course.
