Former Georgetown Golfer Matthew Finger Qualifies for United States Amateur

Aug. 9, 2006

Washington, D.C. - Former Georgetown University golfer Matthew Finger (C'99) will play in the 2006 United States Amateur Tournament after advancing in a qualifier recently in Maryland.

Finger shot a one-over par 143 at the Four Streams Golf Club in Beallsville, Maryland during a qualifier held on August 7-8. He was one of five golfers to advance from the sectional.

The 106th United States Amateur will be held at the Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota from August 23-27.

This is not the first time the former Hoya has participated at the national level in a United States Golf Association event, as he was a member of the three-player squad representing the District of Columbia during the 2005 USGA Men's State Team Championships.
