Men’s Golf Ties for Ninth at Xavier Provident Invitational

Georgetown’s men’s golf team participated in the Xavier Provident Invitational on October 14-15. The Invitational was held at the Kings Island-Grizzley Course in Mason, Ohio. Facing some of the top teams in the nation the Hoyas ended tied for ninth out of 18 teams. GU finished 29-over with a total score of 881. Wright State won the Invitational shooting a combined 853.

Nick Cook (Shelton, Conn./Fairfield Prep) was the top Hoya and ended the two-day event tied for 11th overall, shooting a 74, 70 and 72 (216). Two strokes behind Cook was Nick Farrah (Potomac. Md./Georgetown Prep) who posted a combined 218 and tied for 16th. Chad DeLuca (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) chipped in with a 224. Closely behind DeLuca was first year player Matt Myers (St. Joseph, Mo./Central High School) (229) and David Erickson (Edina, Minn./The Blake School) (231).

The Hoyas close out the 2002 fall season with the Hoya Invitational on October 28-29. Georgetown hosts the event in Leesburg, Va. at the Lansdowne Resort.
