Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University men's golf team closes out the fall season on October 22-23 by hosting the Georgetown Intercollegiate at The Members Club at Four Streams. Junior co-captain Tim Hager (Ivyland, Pa./Council Rock North) took some time from his schedule to visit with Hoya Headliner.

HH: So how did you get recruited here?
TH: I sent out my resume to many coaches and Coach Hunter replied with interest and I took my official visit here at Georgetown and liked it the most.

HH: What do your parents think of their son going on to play collegiate golf?
TH: They are very supportive of the idea of me being a Division I student-athlete.

HH: How was the transition from high school to college for you your freshman year?
TH: The first-year transition is very tough. You are getting adjusted to a new living environment while still trying to maintain a competitive level in your sport. I think it just takes time to get adjusted before you are able to really relax and perform at your best level.

HH: So what does your final collegiate year have in store for you?
TH: Just trying to keep a high level of competition like always and just enjoying the experience of playing golf at such a great university.

HH: Who do you look to for advice when you need it?
TH: Obviously, my teammates and I look to Coach Hunter for advice when we need it, but we also look to each other as we are all a good group of friends.

HH: What made you decide to attend Georgetown?
TH: The chance to play D1 golf and be educated at a top academic university.

HH: Do you have any superstitions before games?
TH: I always need a big hug from Trevor Matese before every round.
 

 

HH: What song gets you pumped up before you play?
TH: "The World's Greatest," R. Kelly.

HH: If you could be on any reality show, which one would you choose? Why?
TH: So You Think You Can Dance?

HH: Who is your favorite player of all-time in your particular sport?
TH: Boo Weekely

HH: What do you like to do in the off-season?
TH: Hang out with the guys.

HH: What is the best/worst thing about living in D.C.?
TH: Best: So much to do being so close to the city. Worst: Being so far away from Golf courses

HH: What is your "breakfast of champions?"
TH: POWERBARS

HH: If you could get front row tickets to any concert, now or in the past, which would it be?
TH: Dave Matthews Band

HH: What is your favorite holiday?
TH: Christmas

HH: When did you first start playing Golf?
TH: Around the age of 12

HH: When did you know that you wanted to play golf competitively in college?
TH: Probably around my sophomore year in high school.

HH: Who is your biggest rival?
TH: Patrick Sherry

HH: What was the best moment in your career so far?
TH: Definitely winning the Hoya Invitational last fall. It was the first tournament we won since I have been here.

HH: What is a typical practice like?
TH: Practice on the range and putting green for about 30 or 40 minutes, and then playing as many holes as we can get in.

HH: Who on the team do you rely on the most?
TH: Tough question. I would say everyone.

HH: If you could change one thing about golf what would it be?
TH: Have it not take five hours to play a round

HH: What do you have in your bag?
TH: 13 clubs, putter, a few balls, and usually one or two tees.

HH: Do you have any regrets about playing your particular sport?
TH: Nope

HH: If you could be great at any other sport or event besides golf, what would it be?
TH: Ice fishing

HH: Who in your life inspires you the most?
TH: Michael Matese

HH: What is your favorite thing to do on the weekends?
TH: Spend endless hours in the library.

HH: What one word would people use to describe you?
TH: Paper

HH: Favorite Georgetown restaurant?
TH: Definitely Filomena

HH: Favorite TV show?
TH: Entourage

HH: Favorite movie?
TH: Zoolander

HH: Least favorite movie?
TH: Wild Wild West

HH: Freshman dorm?
TH: Village C West

HH: If you could be anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
TH: Murrysville, Pennsylvania. You'll know why once you've been there.

HH: Any advice for anyone who wants to join golf?
TH: Practice putting.

HH: What do you plan to do for spring break?
TH: Vegas.

HH: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
TH: Finally graduating college
