10/28/2002 Leesburg, Va. – The Georgetown University men’s golf team hosted the Hoya Invitational and closed the two day event in fourth place overall, shooting a combined 585. Penn State tied the Hoya Invitational record by winning the event with a 560 score. PSU was followed by East Carolina (570) and Princeton (575). The Hoyas shot a nine over par and were led by team captain Nick Cook (Shelton, Conn./Fairfield Prep) and freshman Matt Myers (St. Joseph, Mo./Central High School). Cook posted a 70 and 73 while Myers shot the second lowest score on the first day with a 68 followed by a 75. Both players tied for the tenth best mark of the event. Jamie Farrah (Potomac. Md./Georgetown Prep) tied for 17th with a 147 while Chad DeLuca (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) closed the two days with a 152. Finishing out the Hoya five was David Erickson (Edina, Minn./The Blake School) with a 161. Georgetown also had the Georgetown Gray team participate in the event. The Gray grouping placed 11th overall. Bob Molina (Skokie, Ill./Loyola) shot a 149 and tied for 25th overall. Peter Rivas (New Orleans, La./Jesuit) placed 34th (150) while Matt Hoesley (Lake Forest, Ill./Loyola) finished with a 157. Adam McBride (Washington, D.C./Landon) and Steven Smith (Rockville Centre, N.Y./Chaminade) completed the Gray’s scoring with a 159 and 162 respectively. The men’s golf team does not compete again until the spring of 2003. The team produced top five finishes in each event during the fall. Georgetown Hoya Invitational Team Results
