WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Georgetown University golf team hosted the Hoya Invitational and finished in fourth place in the 16-team event. The Invitational was held at the Lansdowne Resort in Leesburg, Va. The fourth place finish by Georgetown tied the team's best mark of the fall season. Junior Cody Courbier (Coconut Grove, Fla./Ransom Everglades) had an outstanding tournament, finishing with a 73 on both Sunday and Monday. Courbier's score of 146 was just one stroke behind Eugene Smith of Seton Hall, who has now won the past two medalist awards at the Invitational.
As a team, the Hoyas fired a 618. Penn State and Seton Hall tied for first place overall with a 606. The Nittany Lions won the event on the first playoff hole. Freshman Nick Cook (Shelton, Conn./Fairfield Prep) had a 156 in the tournament, which placed him in a tie for 20th overall. Junior Tristan Lewis (Pepper Pike, Ohio/Western Reserve Academy) added a 158, while senior Dan Giraudo (San Francisco, Calif./St. Ignatius) and junior Andreas Huber (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) each shot a 161. The Hoya Invitational was the team's final event of the fall season.
