Four Hoya Men's Lacrosse Players Earn All-ECAC Academic Honors

June 26, 2008

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Four Georgetown men's lacrosse players were named to the prestigious 2008 All-ECAC Academic Team. Georgetown seniors Miles Kass and Dan Vinson along with juniors Ben Hostetler and Chris Taylor earned the honors as part of 35 student-athletes selected by the ECAC Lacrosse League.

In order to be selected to the team, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA through a minimum of four semesters at his current institution, be a contributor to his team and have participated in at least 50 percent of the games (33 percent of the minutes for goalies).

Kass (Rye, N.Y./Hotchkiss), a three-year starter in net, earned a 3.26 cumulative GPA and graduated from Georgetown with a finance degree. Recently named a Scholar All-American by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association, Kass posted an 8.70 goals-against average in 13 games last season. He finished his collegiate career with a record of 29-7 and an 8.67 goals-against average.

Vinson (Pleasant Hill, Calif./De La Salle) earned a 3.21 cumulative GPA and graduated from Georgetown with a degree in human science. He saw action in 11 games in 2008, serving as the Hoyas' face-off specialist. Vinson, an All-American in high school, won 83 of 161 faceoffs (.516) and grabbed 35 ground balls, third highest on the team.

Hostetler (Ellicott City, Md./River Hill) posted a 3.66 cumulative GPA and is a finance major. A former US Lacrosse Magazine All-American and the 2005 Howard County Lacrosse Player of the Year, Hostetler played in six games, scoring one goal in a 12-11 loss to Penn State in the season finale.

Taylor (Mercer Island, Wash./Mercer Island), an English major, posted a 3.69 GPA - fourth-highest on the Academic Team. A former high school All-American and first team All-State selection, Taylor tied for fifth on the team in ground balls, picking up 25 in 13 games, while adding two goals.
