Georgetown Men's Soccer Blanked by #15 Creighton, 6-0

Oct. 19, 2005

Box Score

Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University men's soccer was blanked by the 15th-ranked Creighton Bluejays, 6-0 today at North Kehoe Field in the first-ever meeting between the two schools. Creighton improves to 8-2-3 overall while Georgetown falls 8-7 on the season.

Creighton's first three goals all came off corner kicks.

Creighton got on the board just two minutes into the game when senior Brian Biggerstaff knocked in a goal in traffic off a corner kick from Tim Bohnenkamp.

Just over two minutes later, the Bluejays upped their lead to 2-0 when senior Matt Wieland connected on his first goal of the season after taking a header pass from Tony Schmitz.

With less than ten seconds left in the first half, Creighton made it 3-0 when Ryan Junge notched his third goal of the season blasting a shot from the top of the 18-yard box after taking a cross from Joan Carvajal.

The Bluejays kept the pressure on in the early portion of the second half. In the 47th minute, junior Michael Kraus put a free kick in play quickly after a Georgetown foul from just outside the penalty area. Junior Jarod Tarver took Kraus' pass and ripped a goal past Hoya goalkeeper Andrew Keszler (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) for a 4-0 Creighton lead.

Wieland scored his second marker of the afternoon in the 67th minute using a pretty bicycle kick move to hammer home the Bluejays' fifth goal before freshman Byron Dacy scored his league-leading sixth goal off a Georgetown misplay in the back line.

Creighton held a 10-5 corner kick advantage and compiled ten shots on goal while Georgetown outshot the Bluejays, 16-15.

Keszler made three saves for the Hoyas who post a 4-3 record against non-league opponents.

Georgetown returns to the field on Saturday, October 22 when they travel to Marquette University for a 7 p.m. BIG EAST game with the Golden Eagles.
