The Georgetown University men's and women's swimming and diving teams defeated Binghamton University in a dual meet on Saturday, November 10. The women won easily, 158-83, while the men won a thriller, 119-118.
In the men's action, senior Chris Lengle (Arlington, Va./Washigton & Lee) won the 50 freestyle (22.10) and took second place in the 100 freestyle (48.58). Sophomore Shodai Enters (Tokyo, Japan/St. Mary's International) won the 200 freestyle (1:47.80) and took third in the 100 freestyle (49.06). The men's meet was eventually decided on the last race, the 400 freestyle relay, as Georgetown needed a first place finish and at least a third place finish to secure the win. The team of Enters, Edmund Caulfield (Caldwell, N.J./St. Peter's Prep), Matt O'Connor (Phoenix, Ariz./Phoenix Country Day) and Jim McLaughlin (Plantsville, Conn./Southington) did their part by winning the race with a time of 3:18.95. The Hoya men clinched the win when the team of Will Miller (Farmingdale, N.J./Freehold), Ted Lin (Columbus, Ohio/Columbus Academy), Brad Perez (Tampa, Fla./Jesuit) and Ryan Mrazik (Drexel Hill, Pa./St. Joseph's Prep) finished the race in third place (3:27.90), two seconds better than a closing Binghamton team.
Georgetown men's and women's swimming and diving will be in action again when they travel to Fairfax, Virginia for the Patriot Invite Friday, November 19 through Sunday, November 18.
