HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Georgetown men's tennis team (10-11) had its eight-match winning streak snapped by James Madison on Thursday afternoon, as the Dukes swept doubles play and took the first three singles matches to defeat the Hoyas, 4-3. The Hoyas fell behind early, falling in each of the three doubles matches, before Jesse Tarr squeaked by sophomore David Tillem (Atlanta, Ga./The Weber School), 7-5, 7-5 in the No. 2 singles match. Sophomore Anthony Tan (Jakarta, Indonesia/Anglo-Chinese Junior College) fell in the No. 3 match to put the Hoyas behind, 3-0. GU rallied back, behind strong play from the No. 4, 5 and 6 singles spots. Junior Kenneth Wong (Repulse Bay, Hong Kong/St. Paul's [N.H.])defeated Brian Rubenstein, 7-5, 6-4. Junior Adam Gross (Quogue, N.Y./Westhampton) win in the fifth singles spot and senior Ted Tywang (Nashville, Tenn./Montgomery Bell Academy) defeated Yaroslav Voznenko, 6-4, 6-3 in the sixth spot to tie the match. James Madison's Jared Robinson was able to outlast Jeffrey Schnell in three sets in the No. 1 singles match, 2-6, 6-2, 6-0 to clinch the match and end the Hoyas winning steak. The Hoyas will travel to Farmville, Va. on Saturday, April 12 to take on Longwood for the second time this season. Georgetown defeated the Lancers, 3-0 during the VCU 4+1 Tournament in January.
