Georgetown's Etienne Paris Goes Undefeated at 2006 Bollettieri Challenge

Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown men's tennis team finished up an impressive showing at the 2006 Bollettieri Challenge in Bradenton, Fla. where junior co-captain Etienne Paris (Miami, Fla./Ransom Everglades) posted a 4-0 record. Paris posted wins over opponents from schools such as Texas A&M, North Carolina and Kentucky.

The weekend of tennis involved seven teams (Armstrong Atlantic, Florida, Georgetown, Illinois, Kentucky, North Carolina and Texas A&M) competing in abbreviated dual matches (three singles, one doubles), the singles consisting of 10-game pro-sets and the doubles consisting of eight-game pro-sets.

Paris, competing alongside the Florida team, won all four of his matches posting wins over Matt Bain of Texas A&M (10-4), Andrew Crone of North Carolina (10-5), Hoya teammate sophomore Kevin Walsh (Bernardsville, N.J./Delbarton) (10-9), and Shane Collins of Kentucky (10-9[5]).

Sophomore.Adam Gross (Quogue, N.Y./Westhampton) also posted a win for the Hoyas when he defeated Florida's Shaun Young with a decisive score of 10-4.

Freshman Anthony Tan (Singapore/Anglo-Chinese JC) also posted a win over a Gator when he took a 10-7 decision over Florida's Dan Cash.

The Hoyas return to action on Friday, October 13 when they compete in the Hampton Roads Invite in Hampton Roads, Va. Play will continue through the weekend.
