Schnell Earns Top 25 Ranking in Division I Northeast ITA Poll

Jan. 8, 2008

Washington, D.C. - Red-shirt senior Jeffrey Schnell (Short Hills, N.J./Milburn) earned a No. 25 ranking when the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released their Northeast Regional Division I poll on December 7, 2007. The ranking is the highest a Georgetown men's tennis player has received this decade.

Schnell finished 8-8, with a 3-1 BIG EAST record in the spring, before going 6-2 during the fall season. The Short Hills, N.J. native enters the spring season as the Hoya's top singles player.

Schnell along with junior Kevin Walsh (Bernardsville, N.J./Delbarton) earned the No. 13 spot in the ITA Northeast Regional Division I doubles rankings. The tandem finished the fall season 7-2, after winning their first five matches of the season.

The Blue & Gray begin their second spring under head coach Gordie Ernst at the VCU 4+1 Tournament in Richmond, Virginia on Friday, January 18. They return home to the McDonough Tennis Complex to host St. John's on Saturday, March 15 at noon.
